Yang So-Nam

Abstract
Since 1997, the UK has developed policies to address the issue of supporting families on the basis of the social investment perspective. This study examines significations which important to promote for supporting family through analysis about the effects and limitations of family support strategies. The guiding principles set out have also been applied to policies for families with children, such as financial support, work/life balance, support for family problems and so on. In brief, the government¡¯s effort to reduce child poverty, to balance work and life, and to extend childcare services can be evaluated as
successful, despite some limitations. In order to meet the needs of family and their members, more progress is needed.
